Leaders in Nutrition Education

AMNEC WILL HELP YOU ADVANCE YOUR SKILLS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS

Our Mission

The environment in which Private Practice dietitians work is a fast changing and competitive market place.

More Australians are seeking preventable healthcare options via:

  • more advanced holistic clinical nutrition assessments that can help identify "root cause" of their condition(s) enabiling more personalised treatment(s)

  • more advanced nutritional solutions to treat or prevent illness; through use of therapeutic diets, functional foods and nutraceuticals

Therefore  AMNEC intends to support private practice Dietitians to advance their Medical Nutrition Therapy skills to meet existing demand and provide the care that their clients need. Why? Because excellence in care is what we should offer all our clients.

We intend to support skills development by providing training from our expert members, guest speakers and access to resources. Objective

Provide education and support in the following areas

Why Naturopathy
ASSESSMENT

A thorough assessment of clinical signs and symptoms requires a holistic and complex multi-system approach. This  often requires a comprehensive knowledge of more demanding biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and physiology principles in order to be able to comprehensively address the myriad of chronic complex pathophysiologies that come our way.

DIAGNOSTICS

Knowing how to apply diagnostic (traditional and functional) laboratory tests that are relevant to assessing factors affecting nutritional status is key. This includes (but is not limited to) advances in traditional and functional laboratory testing for factors that contribute to (affect) nutrient deficiencies and impact nutrient sufficiency related to specific chronic complex pathophysiologies, metabolic function, oxidative stress, mitochondrial health, immune function, nutrigenomics and the gastrointestinal (gut) microbiome.

THERAPEUTIC CLINICAL DIETS AND FUNCTIONAL FOODS

Using food as medicine is an important aspect of healing the body and mind. As such, building more effective therapeutic clinical diets is essential. This may involve the inclusion of functional foods with unique therapeutic properties. Also, utilising plant-based diets (especially the Mediterranean diet high in legumes). Further AMNEC will help APDs update their cooking skills.

THERAPEUTIC USE OF NUTRACEUTICALS

With more than 70% of Australians using NCs it is imperative that APDs become  familiar with the evidence behind the ingredients in NCs (which may include macro-nutrients, micro-nutrients, phytonutrients, prebiotics and probiotics).  APDs also need to develop skills in the evaluation and therapeutic use of NCs, including their interactions with medications

NUTRIGENOMICS

Understanding how your genes impact one’s  nutrient and health status and how food contributes to gene expression (communicates to your genes) can assist in taking dietary personalisation to the next level, maximise patient  compliance and optimise health outcomes.
